In 2012, Carmen F. Jones, MD began seeing patients seeking recommendation to enter the State of Nevada’s medical marijuana program. In the office, she helps nearly 100 patients monthly learn about cannabis as medicine. Because the majority of the patients are elderly and experiencing some form of pain, it is very rewarding when they return proclaiming that, “Their life has been changed.” Since then, she has become a passionate Patient Advocate, helping patients manage their illnesses with medicinal cannabis.
Traditionally, Dr. Jones is a pediatrician with widely varied experiences in over 27 years. She has practiced in the private sector; with the underserved, in both the inner city and in rural areas; and with children placed in the foster care system. She has also served as a hospitalist working with neonatal and pediatric emergencies. She is trained in medical aesthetics and, most recently, became a research investigator.
Originally from Chicago, IL, Dr. Jones relocated to Las Vegas in 2002. She completed her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Illinois. She completed her pediatric residency training at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
In addition to her medical practices, she currently serves on several cannabis dispensary and cultivation boards. Other community service boards include; Alliance Against Diabetes, Broadway in the Hood, and HerShe Las Vegas, Inc. Dr. Jones has spoken on numerous panels regarding the usage of cannabis as medicine. She has also been appointed to a seat on the Clark County Green Ribbon Advisory Panel.
